The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has no plans to shift the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches out of Chennai despite threats by Tamil activists to disrupt games involving Sri Lankan players.
“As of now the matches will be held in Chennai. We have no plans to shift them out,” Ratnakar Shetty, chief administrative officer of the BCCI, said.



IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said the governing council was happy with the security situation in Chennai. “As of now the matches are not being moved out. But we are monitoring the situation,” Shukla said.
Thirteen Sri Lankan players are due to feature in this year's edition of the Indian Premier League scheduled to kick off on April 3.

The players are:

  • Akila Dananjaya and Nuwan Kulasekara - Chennai Super Kings
  • Jeevan Mendis and Mahela Jayawardene - Delhi Daredevils
  • Sachithra Senanayake- Kolkata Knight Rider
  • Lasith Malinga- Mumbai Indians
  • Ajantha Mendis and Angelo Mathews - Pune Warriors
  • Kusal Janith Perera-Rajasthan Royals
  • Muttiah Muralitharan and Tillakaratne Dilshan- Royal Challengers
  • Kumar Sangakkara and Thisara Perera- Sunrisers Hyderabad 

Mahela Jayawardene will be leading Daredevils and Kumar Sangakkara will be in charge of Sunrisers.
